High Profile: Kristal Bush

Kristal Bush is a dedicated advocate and visionary leader with more than 15 years of commitment to social justice. Her advocacy is deeply rooted in her personal experience, having grown up as the child of an incarcerated parent from the age of 3. As a result, Kristal is deeply committed to supporting families impacted by incarceration and the War on Drugs.

Motivated by her own journey, In her capacity as the former CEO and founder of Bridging the Gap Transportation, Kristal reunited over 3,500 families with their incarcerated loved ones.

Furthermore, Kristal launched Free My Weedman, an initiative aimed at addressing the injustices perpetuated by the War on Drugs and the criminalization of marijuana through the power of storytelling, economic development, and community building.

Her trauma-informed leadership extends to My TIE Project, where she empowers individuals and families impacted by the War on Drugs with tools for wellness, skill-building, and thriving in their communities.

On Thursday, August 28th, Kristal will join us for a special Black August Movie Night featuring “A Woman on the Outside” 🎥, a tender, powerful documentary about love, incarceration, and resistance. After the screening, she’ll take the stage for a live Q&A you won’t want to miss.
